We hope this update finds you and your family in good health. Our area is among many communities experiencing a sudden change in routine and otherwise sense of normalcy. In an effort to ensure that your health is maximally protected, we are following mandates to enhance the way that we traditionally practice. However, we have not wavered in our continued commitment to your safety. We have been given clearance from the Governor's Office to reopen and we will begin the process of scheduling patients again. We will continue to keep the prioritization of severity, effect of the dental issue on overall health, and the level of our patient's vulnerability, in mind.

SAFETY UPDATES

Infection control has ALWAYS been a top priority for our practice. Our processes are made so that when you receive care, it's both safe and comfortable while following recommendations set forth by our state (NM Dental Association) and national associations (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up -to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies' recommendations. New protocols have been written for optimum care and we have a more than adequate supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) through thoughtful and intentional preparation.

In addition to our current practices, you may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

*The UFD team members are screened daily, prior to work commencement for fever, or symptoms of Covid-19.

*All team members will be antigen tested for Covid-19 upon re-opening and must test "negative" in order to resume duties. As guidelines are clarified and regular testing becomes more readily available, we will continue to be diligent with screening, infection control, and disease mitigation.

*Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You'll be asked the same questions when you arrive at the office and your temperature will be taken.

*Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients; preference to dedicated, high-risk populations, and type of dental need. This may mean that you're offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

*We have added glass partitions to the front and back areas to mutually protect our patients and team members.

*We have added multiple room air purifiers at 0.1 microns to scrub the air and recirculate at 5 times an hour.

*We have added specialized equipment in the hygiene operatories to cut aerosols by >95%. The doctor operatories were already equipped with such high- speed evacuation devices.

*The office is deep cleaned daily with EPA approved disinfectants, including regular wiping down of door handles, light switches, and higher contact surfaces.

*Increased plastic barriers to safely cover surfaces.

*Increased paperless options with online medical history forms on our website.

*More texting/email appointment reminders and dental treatment communication.

*We have added the option of TeleDentistry for higher risk patients or those preferring to do an online consultation. The cost is $49 and may be reimbursable by insurance. To access this link, go to www.drkimmartin.com and click on Video Chat with a Dentist.

PATIENT RESPONSIBILITY

*After check-in, we ask that you wait in your car for a text or call indicating your appointment is ready.

*Please wear a protective mask to your visit and bring your own pen, should it be needed, to minimize cross contamination.

*Please use hand sanitizer upon entering and leaving the office.

We appreciate your patience with us as we work to re-establish appointments that were canceled due to the Covid-19 experience and for those that need appointments in the near future. We will be bringing you frequent updates as we move forward.
